Artist: Madonna
Song Title: Drowned World/Substitute for Love
Album: Ray of Light
Heard On: Computer (the old one)
Rating: 8 (out of 10)
Yes, I know, I have now changed my rating system. Instead of the four star system - I prefer to use a 1 to 10 because some songs are perhaps a 3, but other songs are 3.5 or whatever - but if you only have a small scale, you can't really differentiate between variance of songs that well.
I would have
NEVER listened to a single Madonna record until I discovered the
Ray of Light album. Her old 80's crap I can't stand - too popish, plus she just is a real turn off for me. But, I must say I am impressed by this album. I understand she started working with some electronica or chill artists and it is reflected in her style on this album and perhaps other subsequent ones.
I first heard "Candy Perfume Girl" from
Ray of Light while listening to Music Choice a few years ago - their Sounds of the Seasons channel does the Chillout/Smooth Electronica/Alternative when there isn't a season (right now they have already started playing christmas music - just make me puke - two months of that stuff is enough to drive anyone mad...).
